Let me tell you a little story. When I was in college I had a pet parakeet. Being a college student on a budget, I had a cute, very cheap and some what substandard apartment. One night during the fall months the heat when out. It never dawned on me that my bird was in danger. I wasn’t home and never discovered the heat was out til I got home.

In the morning, I woke up and I had this “bad feeling.” Something was wrong. So I went home and saw my baby lying there fighting for his life. I called friends. We called vets. Searched Google.The vet was so far away I knew he wouldn’t make it. He waited for me to get home, gave a weak chirp that he was happy to see me and died right in front of my eyes.

Then I thought about it. If I had help I would have known that what he needed was to be warmed up immediately and then take him to the vet for further treatment. If a forum like Quanda existed, then maybe another bird mom or dad would have been able to advise me.

Human moms and dads have mom and dad groups. Why shouldn’t pet moms and dads too?
